Jim Carey Honored as Attorney of the Year 2011
SiebenCarey President and Managing Partner James P. Carey has been recognized by Minnesota Lawyer as a 2011 "Attorney of the Year." This award is reserved for a select group of attorneys from throughout the state who have distinguished themselves through exemplary work. The honorees were chosen based on the following criteria: leadership in the profession, involvement in major cases or other newsworthy events, excellence in corporate or transactional services and public service.
This year's Attorneys of the Year will be featured in a special section in Minnesota Lawyer and during an awards dinner on February 23, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Minneapolis.
Mr. Carey is a personal injury lawyer with a reputation for winning big cases. He was chosen to sit on the American Board of Trial Advocates, and holds a seat on the Million Dollar Roundtable, a recognition given only to Minnesota lawyers who have won million-dollar-plus verdicts. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by both the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Minnesota State Bar Association, a distinction awarded to less than 2 percent of all Minnesota's personal injury attorneys, and he was recently chosen to join the International Society of Barristers.
He is also involved in the community, and serves on the board of directors for Playing 2 Win 4 Life, a non-profit ALS Foundation; in addition he works with Family Focus, a non-profit Foster Care Agency, and Camp Buckskin, a learning facility for challenged youth.
He received his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and his B.S. from St. John's University.
