Jenna’s Story – Lightning can strike twice!
They say lightning doesn’t strike in the same place twice. Not so for Jenna, as she was rammed from behind while stopped in traffic, not once but twice. Here’s her story:
The first time I was hit, I was waiting at a light on Brooklyn Boulevard when a teenager with a car full of friends slammed into the back of my car. She said she thought the traffic was moving, but I think she may have been looking at her phone. I was pregnant at the time and suffered a serious lower back injury from the impact of the crash. Matt took over the case when the first attorney I hired retired. We didn’t know it then, but we soon discovered that was the best thing that could have happened for me and my family.
Right from the start, Matt was excellent. When a doctor for the insurance company decided nothing was wrong with me, they cut off benefits. Matt told me not to worry and that he would get me the care I needed. I remember he said, “Here’s what’s going to happen when we file a claim against the insurance company – X, Y, and Z,” and that’s exactly what happened. In the end, he negotiated a settlement that was just phenomenal.
So, of course, I contacted Matt immediately when I was involved in a second crash a few years later. My mother-in-law and I had just picked up my kids from daycare this time. We were stopped for heavy traffic backed up through a green light when a guy rear-ended my SUV. Thankfully, my daughter and son were securely fastened into five-point harnesses, but I severely reinjured my back. My mother-in-law also suffered whiplash. Again, we suspect the guy was on his phone.
It soon became clear that I would suffer long-term implications from the second crash. There will be ongoing medical expenses. I will have more difficulty physically handling my young children. I also know that it will worsen as I grow older. But once again, the insurance company tried to downplay the extent of my injuries. First, they wanted to pressure me into a quick settlement. Then they put me under a microscope during depositions and mediation as if I were the one at fault when I was the one following all the rules.
Matt and his team came to the rescue again. They never missed a beat and always had their ducks in a row throughout the process, preparing me every step of the way and relieving a lot of the anxiety I felt. He delivers on his promises, making a difficult process feel like a breeze. Matt’s also a bulldog and will get top dollar for his clients. When it was over, I thought we received a fair settlement for the injuries I suffered. So did my mother-in-law.
After this experience, I’ve learned that not all personal injury lawyers have your best interests in mind. From the beginning, I knew Matt and SiebenCarey ALWAYS put me and my family first. I would never wish something like what I went through on anyone, especially twice! But if you need a personal injury lawyer, you will be in good hands with Matt Steinbrink.
