Bicyclist Hit By Car On Commute to Work
Our client was a bicycle commuter and was commuting to work in downtown Minneapolis when his accident occurred. He was proceeding through an intersection on a green light when he was broadsided by a car that was turning left. That driver claimed she did not see our client on his bicycle when she made her turn.
Our client was taken by ambulance to HCMC where he had numerous scans and x-rays done to determine the extent of spinal, cervical and other injuries. In the ER, his heart rate paused on several occasions so a temporary pacemaker was placed. After a few days in the hospital, the doctors also discovered a left tibia fracture. After four days he was released from the hospital then spent a week in a rehabilitation hospital. He later had cervical surgery and ongoing treatment. His medical bills were over $250,000.
Our client was an architecture manager for Hennepin County and missed a month of work after the accident. He continued to miss time from work in the ongoing months due to his injuries.
Jeff Sieben settled claims for the policy limits for our client against his own automobile insurance policy as well as the at fault driver’s policy. The total settlement amount was $180,000.
