Winter preparations lands our client in the hospital for half a year and saddles him with lifelong injuries. Michael agreed to help a neighbor place markers for the snow plow drivers in their neighborhood. When the pickup truck Michael was seated on lurched forward, he was seriously brain injured. Claims for the negligent operation of the truck were successful against both the driver and his home owners association. In the early morning hours our client was traveling to work with a friend when they came upon some headlights that appeared to be in their lane. It was dark, raining and foggy.  A garbage truck had pulled into the wrong lane and was actually facing toward our client as he approached.  Our client understandably thought that someone was in his lane and he was blinded by the headlights so he veered off the road to the right, driving into a ditch striking a telephone pole. Our client and his passenger got out to inspect the damage to their car, which was minimal.  Another vehicle who also thought that the garbage truck was a vehicle coming at him in his lane and did exactly the same thing that our client did and hit our client as he was getting back into his vehicle. 

Misdiagnosis and treatment resulted in the need for an organ transplant.

Our client was a young girl who was 5 years old at the time of settlement in a case involving events surrounding the girls's birth. The medical personnel attending the birth failed to recognize non-reassuring signs and the mother was allowed to continue in labor until the baby had suffered asphyxia prior to birth. The asphyxia resulted in neurological impairments to the girl's motor skills (including spastic quadriparetic cerebral palsy and a very limited ability to communicate), but she is described by her therapists as being extremely intelligent, diligent and highly motivated.

Our client suffered a cervical spinal cord injury that rendered him a quadriplegic. The employer denied liability claiming the sales incentive trip was not in the course and scope of employment. 

Our client was asleep in the sleeping compartment of a semi-tractor when a single vehicle accident occurred.  They were hauling a load of produce from Riverside, California to the Walmart distribution center in Tomah, Wisconsin. The accident happened approximately 1:00 a.m. The semi driver apparently fell asleep and drove down a large embankment causing the accident. The semi tractor-trailer was completely destroyed in the accident.

After a young man was tragically hit and killed as a pedestrian by a drunk driver, his distraught family turned to SiebenCarey for legal help.

Our client, a young man, was working on the roof of the Lakeville High School in Lakeville, Minnesota. Our client had never ridden a fully-suspended mountain bike before he purchased a new model from a local bike shop. He shared this fact with the bike shop employee who sized and fit the bike for him. Unfortunately, the sizing was done improperly, and our client was pitched from the bicycle within five minutes of his first ride. We consulted mechanical engineers, professional cyclists, and professional fitters to establish that a grave mistake was made in how the bike was fit. This caused the immediate pitch from the bike, which resulted in a neck fracture and quadriplegia.

Jim Carey represented a Chisago City woman who was badly injured when her car was t-boned at an intersection by a vehicle that ran a stop sign. She received significant injuries including a traumatic brain injury and PTSD and was unable to return to work after the accident.
